Billie Lourd Shows Off Son Watching Great Grandmother Debbie Reynolds In ‘Singin’ In The Rain’

Billie Lourd recently shared a snap of her three-year-old son, Kingston, to Instagram, watching his late great-grandmother’s movie Singin’ In The Rain. The little boy seemed lost in the 1952 film starring Debbie Reynolds, who died from a stroke in 2016.

Billie captioned the shot with three pink hearts, matching Debbie’s flapper girl costume in the ‘50s classic. The proud descendant of two famous matriarchs, including her late mom Carrie Fisher, Billie aims to showcase the legacy of her bloodline to the kids.

Billie Lourde’s family legacy

Last year, Billie honored her mother at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, sharing how she wanted her children to share in the success her late mother had built. “I can’t wait to bring my kids here when they’re old enough to understand how cool it is,” she admitted, adding that she feels “so lucky that even though they won’t get to meet my mom.”

The actress added that her kids would “get to know a piece of Carrie through Leia,” referring to her mother’s role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise. “And I will get to tell them that the little lady in the TV is my Momby, their Grandmomby. Leia has become a family heirloom, and not just for my family,” she added proudly.

Billie Lourd gets candid about grieving her mother

Billie has been candid about the challenges of balancing motherhood and losing Carrie after a sudden cardiac arrest. The film star, who also shares a 15-month-old with her husband, Austen Rydell, shared a vulnerable post last winter, detailing the difficulties of grief and the joys of parenting. “It has been 6 years since my Momby died (feels like 2 but also like 705 at the same time?),” she explained. “And unlike most other years since she’s died, this year, these past two weeks have been some of the most joyful of my life.”

Bille added, “Giving birth to my daughter and watching my son meet her have been two of the most magical moments I have ever experienced.”

“But with the magic of life tends to come the reality of grief. My mom is not here to meet either of them and isn’t here to experience any of the magic,” she shared, noting that she makes sure to tell Kingston and his baby sister “how much she would have loved them.”
