‘80s prime soap opera Knots Landing featured former actress Constance McCashin, who played Laura Avery alongside William “Bill” Devane’s Gregory Sumner and Donna Mills’ Abby Cunningham. The co-stars recently reunited, and Donna took to Instagram to share the exhilarating moment.

Donna Mills posted a cute photo of their trio, noting that she “was so thrilled to meet up with these two in the desert last week.” “Hadn’t seen Constance for a very long time and it’s been a few years since I’ve seen Bill, but it was just like old times. Funny and warm and wonderful. I am so lucky to have them in my life,” the eighty-three-year-old wrote.

Constance retired from the spotlight to become a social worker and psychotherapist with a focus on people with eating disorders and body image problems. Her time on Knots Landing set her up as a screen icon whom she remains known for. For her brilliant portrayal of Avery, Constance earned a Soap Opera Digest award for Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role on a Prime Time Serial, which was a surprise to her as she was uncertain about the film’s popularity among viewers. “When people started recognizing me, I would get very uncomfortable, which is my problem, it is not their problem,” she once said, recalling how her fame peaked thanks to Knots Landing’s success.

Fans react to the reunion

Fans soon reacted to Donna’s reunion post, giving thousands of likes and asking for a Knots Landing comeback in the comments. “Reunion, please! And can we get all 14 seasons on a streaming platform?! Is that too much to ask?!!” someone requested. “Greggy!! We just love Knots Landing! Wish they would put the reruns back on! Constance looks great!” another echoed.

Speaking of a Knots Landing revival, Constance admitted, “If it was up to me, they’d put it back on again and actually continue it.” However, no plans for such have been reported. “I think it’d really be interesting to see where those characters are today. We did one reunion episode, but another one this far down the line would be good,” Constance added. The 76-year-old currently enjoys life with her film director husband, Sam Weisman, with whom she shares two kids.
