Eyes were on Michael Douglas and his lookalike son, Cameron, at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California. The father and son looked dressed up for the Vanity Fair Oscar party, with Douglas looking youthful in his all-black suit and matching shirt.
The actor wore a black bow tie and matching shoes while showing off his gray slicked-back hair, which complemented the single-color look. Cameron, whom Douglas shares with his ex-wife Diana Luker, wore a gray-green suit, a black shirt, and shoes with a yin-yang-inspired pattern.
Cameron shared photos from the event to his Instagram page, and soon enough the post amassed nearly 2,000 likes and comments from impressed fans. “Another fun night out with a veritable legend @michaelkirkdouglas showing me the ropes,” the caption reads. “Congrats to all the nominees this year…your art inspires us…And thank you, @vanityfair, for the fun!”
Cameron’s followers also took to the comments, praising father and son for their complementary appearance. “You two cut a fine figure. A pair of legends. Great to see you making the rounds bro!” someone wrote, adding that they “like those yin yang shoes dude!” “Great photo, you are so much like your father and grandfather,” someone noted, also making reference to the late actor and filmmaker Kirk Douglas.
Douglas has been open about some not-so-pretty parts of his son’s past, particularly his battle with alcohol and substances. “There were moments when hope dwindled… and then it’s just a train out of the station. Life became a series of crises. I thought I was going to lose him,” he told PEOPLE in 2019, explaining how he watched Cameron get addicted to drinking, pot smoking, other hijinks, and similar vices.
In 2009, Cameron served an eight-year term related to meth and cocaine distribution, after which he was released in 2016. Now, he is committed to help others like himself “seek help— and maybe save a life.” Cameron also admitted that his family’s “love and support that they’ve showed me was enough to make me want to pull through and be a good person.”
