Online Trolls Say Reba McEntire’s New Hairstyle ‘Makes Her Look Old’

Reba McEntire's new hairstyle

Country singer Reba McEntire debuted a new hairdo recently and some social media users are not having it. The “Fancy” singer showed off the fringed bob style, which contrasts her usual curls, in an Instagram video captioned, “Hmm, did I just stumble upon @danandshay’s ‘top secret’ coaching strategy? Better change your password. #TheVoice.”

The post garnered over 26,000 likes and thousands of comments from fans, many of whom were more concerned about the transformation than the prank on The Voice judges Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney. “Her hair looks terrible. It makes her look old,” a disappointed follower wrote.

Reba likely intended to receive playful reactions from her fans since she was recording a funny moment sneaking up into the pop duo Dan + Shay’s dressing room; however, she was met with backlash over her hair. “Girl, this hairstyle is not you. Go back to the old Reba with fluffy hair. Much more attractive on you,” someone advised.

Another said they were “not loving the hairstyle” because it looked “too flat on your head like a helmet.” “Love ya but this flat hair has to go,” someone else agreed. Thankfully, some people did not mind the new look and complimented her kindly. “Oh wow your hair!!! never seen it straight before,” a user gushed with several heart emojis.

It is not Reba’s first time showing up with something different. Last September, she straightened her bouncy curls while celebrating “Fancy’s” 100 million streams on Spotify. She also opted for a daring short gelled-back do in 2020, and fans seemed more receptive to that. “Felt cute. Might gel my hair and stare out the window while I wait for my grocery delivery. IDK,” she wrote on X, which was Twitter at the time.

Reba’s hair is a testimony of her personality and vibrance on and off stage, including her ability to explore new things. She has remained relevant for decades, appealing to both old and new generations of country music lovers. “You are such a sweetheart, Reba! Thank you for all you do to make us smile!!” someone gushed on her recent post. “Reba, you are my idol. I love you so much. You have so much talent and love,” another user affirmed.
