Disheveled Gary Oldman Steps Out Looking Unidentifiable As His Cab Breaks Down In London

Gary Oldman recently arrived in London to film the Apple TV+ thriller series Slow Horses, which has had a successful run with five BAFTA nominations and two wins. Sadly, the rainy weather was not fun for Gary as he got out of a black cab looking disheveled.

Thankfully, he got an umbrella to shield him from the downpour as he strolled the streets. The legendary actor, who played Jackson Lamb in the aforementioned series, also appeared in the Harry Potter series as Sirius Black, and he admitted his personal thoughts about his role in a recent interview.

The TV shoot Gary arrived for got called off as a replacement cab could not be found quickly enough. The fourth season of Slow Horses will be released by the end of the year and is based on the 2017 novel Spook Street. Starring alongside Gary are Jack Lowden, who plays River Cartwright, and Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner.

Gary told TheWrap during a recent Zoom chat that it felt “very oddly liberating to play a character who is openly hostile and publicly humiliates people. The creation of Lamb was pretty much all there on the page. All I had to do is give it some voice and a bit of imagination, bring my own little thing to it.”

Gary landed the Harry Potter gig while going through a messy divorce, and although he wishes he had read the books before giving a “mediocre” portrayal of Sirius, he is grateful for the role and how it helped him get through the challenging period. “Thank God for ‘Harry Potter.’ I tell you, the two— ‘Batman’ and ‘Harry Potter’— really, they saved me,” he told Drew Barrymore on her daytime show.

Thanks to Harry Potter and Batman, Gary was able to “do the least amount of work for the most amount of money and then be home with the kids.” His personal struggles, including the tumultuous marriage and eventual divorce from model Donya Fiorentino, may have contributed to his personally perceived underwhelming delivery in these films.
