Dolly Parton has never shied away from the spotlight or from proudly showing off who she is, in mind, body, and soul. Her most recent display of this confidence has caused quite a stir online after Parton showed a picture of herself posing in a revealing outfit with patterns reminiscent of a zebra.
At 78, Parton is as busy as ever, having released her very first rock album, aptly called Rockstar, on November 17, a move she felt compelled to make after she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Just last month, the “Jolene” singer celebrated her birthday with new songs that go with the Rockstar album and songs that listeners have never heard before.
Parton kicked off the new week with a new photo showing off her toned figure. “They say if you can dream it, you can have it,” Parton captioned the post, which is accompanied by a photo of her wearing a tight-fitting black and white dress with slits that ride up each thigh. Parton is seen posing with one leg bent out, so the dress frames a coordinating pair of black and white knee-high boots.
The comments quickly flooded with stunned awe. “On fire, Miss Dolly! rock on,” one fan posted. Another cheered, “Get it Auntie Dolly!!!!”
One voiced some bemusement at the ensemble, noting, “Doesn’t look like something Dolly would wear.” Another wondered, “Fabulous, but what’s with left knee [sic]?”
Probably the one constant for Parton – besides her proudly bold style – is change. Moving from one project to the next, and staying true to herself the whole time. Even on her birthday, she arranged a way to treat fans.
“Hey fans and friends, It’s my birthday so I’m going to give you a present!” she announced earlier this year. “I’m releasing four never released songs for my birthday, to go with the Rockstar album, and a few others that you may have heard before that were not on the album. I hope you enjoy them, and I hope you all have a happy birthday for me!”
Since then, fans have been treated to Rockstar Deluxe, available to stream wherever listeners get their music, complete with new special tracks following last year’s initial album release.
Then, of course, there was Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala, streamed on CBS on February 21. It’s exactly as cute and fabulous as it sounds, featuring all-star musical performances, fashion shows from her Doggy Parton pet line, and more! Did you catch the big show?
