Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have long set the standard for blended Hollywood families that stick together. This Valentine’s Day, the couple got to celebrate not just their love but also the birth of their eighth grandchild, a baby boy named Boone Joseph Russell!
Never married, Hawn and Russell have been together for over 40 years and share one son, Wyatt, although Russell has also become a father figure to Hawn’s other two children, Kate and Oliver Hudson; Russell is also the father of son Bsoton, whose mother is Season Hubley. 37-year-old Wyatt, also an actor, welcomed his second son with wife Meredith Hagner.
On Saturday, February 17, Hagner announced the birth of her son with Wyatt on Instagram. “Boone Joseph Russell,” she introduced to the world. “ Born Feb 13, a week before his due date. 8 pounds 3 oz of heaven. Hearts overflowing.”
The post is accompanied by a photo of Wyatt leaning down to kiss Hagner, who is seen lying in a hospital bed still, both of them gently cradling their newest tiny bundle of joy as they exchange a kiss.
After divorcing stylist Sanne Hamers in 2017, Wyatt tied the knot with fellow actor Hagner in 2019; Wyatt and Hamers actually split in 2015 and it was then, before the divorce was finalized, that he began his relationship with Hagner. They welcomed their first son, Buddy, in 2021.
Hawn, Russell, and their kids have always been proud to call themselves a successfully blended family defined by love rather than exclusively by blood. It’s made for a sizable family that more often than not has a lot to celebrate, especially since this is Russell and Hawn’s eighth grandchild now.
Kate Hudson is the mother of three of those grandkids, with sons Ryder and Bing, along with Rani Rose. Similarly, Oliver has sons Wilder and Bodhi, along with a daughter named Rio. Finally, there’s Wyatt with Buddy Prine and, most recently, Boone.
All eight children will go forth armed with wisdom from their doting grandmother Goldie. The Overboard star passed on some important words to live by to her children, and now she’s ready to share that advice with the grandkids. “You’ve got to work for a living, stay compassionate and stay realistic,” she said to Variety. “And I’m passing that on because that was what my father taught me: Stay in reality. Don’t get taken away with everything.”
