Granny Panties Are The New Cool As More Celebrities Ditch Pants

Young celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner have been spotted wearing granny panties in public, which is fast becoming a trend. Contrary to the now-changing norm, these were regarded as full-coverage underwear and not something to be seen by the public.

Other populars like Summer House’s Paige DeSorbo joined the train when she appeared at the BravoCon in Las Vegas last December, wearing glittering pink and white briefs on the red carpet. These ladies and several others have shown off different ways to style boring old panties into a fashion statement, and fans are beginning to catch on.

Granny panties are now in style

Kendall Jenner rocked a pair of high-waisted black undies underneath matching tights in 2022 and shared an Instagram selfie to show off the look. The post got over 7 million likes and thousands of comments praising the reality TV alum. “You’re gorgeous,” someone quipped, with another adding that she has beautiful “long legs,” which the look emphasized.

The Real Housewives of New York City star Erin Lichy also joined Paige at BravoCon wearing black latex briefs and a structured top. Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo also wore panties that looked more like boy shorts under a sheer black dress to the 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony at Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles.

Underwear show-off going mainstream

Aside from ditching bottoms, more people are also letting their underwear peek through their clothing- like Emily Ratajkowski, who modeled at a Miu Miu show for Paris Fashion Week 2022. Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager had something to say about the cool on a recent episode of the TODAY show. Hoda said, “The bloomers are in!” and Jenna responded that she loves “those granny panties.”

Jenna also pointed out that these big undergarments are far more comfortable than other panty types like thongs and G-strings. “Anybody that’s worn a granny panty or a thong knows for sure. I mean, you’re lying if you think the little string is more comfortable than that lovely parachute,” she said. However, the ladies say they would never ditch their pants for the trend.
