The television sitcom Reba aired from 2001 to 2007, starring country music singer and actress Reba McEntire as the main character, Reba Hart. The show delves into the life of Reba, a divorced mother of three, as she faces the trials of parenting and grapples with the intricacies of her relationships, notably with her ex-husband and his new wife.
It’s been almost two decades since the conclusion of the eponymous sitcom, and Reba McEntire, currently a coach on the reality singing competition The Voice, is poised to reunite with her former Reba crew in a new NBC sitcom.
The 68-year-old singer is embarking on a new venture with an upcoming NBC pilot series, still awaiting an official title. In addition to her role in the forthcoming sitcom, Reba will also take on the responsibilities of executive producer.
Notably, Kevin Abbott is on board as a writer and executive producer, accompanied by the experienced team of Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, and Julie Abbott, who previously collaborated with McEntire on the popular show Reba, serving as non-writing executive producers.
Variety reported that McEntire is set to play the lead in the NBC series where her character inherits her father’s restaurant but is taken aback as she discovers that her newfound business partner is her half-sister, which she was unaware of.
Additionally, the soon-to-be-released sitcom is set to be the first official pilot for the 2024 broadcast pilot season since the resolution of the challenges posed by WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that occurred last year.
