Dustin Hoffman has built an impressive acting portfolio since he started in the ’60s, pioneering Hollywood’s new age. He appeared in some of the leading movies of all time and has earned multiple awards and recognitions over the course of his career.

One of his films, Little Big Man, got him on the Guinness World Record as the actor who portrayed the largest age span in one movie. In the record-breaking production, Dustin plays the role of Jack Crabb, who recounts his life from teenhood into the age of 121.

The record is yet to be beaten; however, one can hope that technological advancements can challenge the already set pace. After Little Big Man, Dustin went on to star in iconic movies like Papillon, Marathon Man, and All the President’s Men, as well as Lenny, for which he received an Oscar nomination in 1975.

Dustin’s other feats

Unknown to many, Dustin co-wrote some of his award-winning films, and he often avoided getting credit for that. “Well, I co wrote Kramer vs Kramer with the writer–director Robert Benton. When we were done he said: I want to give you a writing credit. I said, ‘No, no, Bob, that’s alright’. That was always my position,” he once said.

Before any of them were famous, Dustin was friends with The Godfather‘s Robert Duvall and Superman‘s Gene Hackman, who described Dustin as “Barbra Streisand in drag.” Dustin got his film breakthrough with The Graduate, earning him his first Academy Award nomination of seven.
