Wynonna Judd was present at the Grand Ole Opry for the Christmas At The Opry TV special as both a host and performer. She joined Kelly Clarkson to open the show with “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” and both ladies looked stunning in their bedazzled outfits. Judd wore a black suit with golden lapels, while Kelly donned a fringed green dress and black heels.

Judd also entertained the audience by performing more holiday songs like “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,” — which she first recorded with her late mother, Naomi in 1990 — “Mary Did You Know?”, and the third song for the night, “O Holy Night.”

Judd’s Christmas

Christmas is one of Judd’s favorite times of the year, and she has released several holiday albums to prove that. She shared some sweet holiday memories from growing up in Appalachia on the Biscuits and Jam podcast. “I remember it was a big deal, because we always chopped down our own tree ….We would literally march out and pick one and cut it down,” she said. “We had time and that was such a gift. I didn’t know it at the time.”

Singing was her way of staying entertained, as they had no TV or telephone in those days. “We made things. It was a way of life for us,” she added. “We sang, and of course, we prayed.” The singer-songwriter’s favorite Christmas songs of all time include “Ave Maria,” “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,” “O Holy Night,” “Silent Night” and “Mary Did You Know?”

At the Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry also hosted other icons like Adam Doleac, BRELAND, Chris Janson, Chrissy Metz, Meghan Patrick, Mitchell Tenpenny, Trace Adkins, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, and Brenda Lee, who recently released a revival video of her 65-year-old classic, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.”

It was Judd’s first time hosting a TV special, and she wanted to be at the Opry “because that’s where I grew up.”

“I love Christmas and I’ve never hosted a TV special before like that, so I was very eager to see what that was like,” she said. “I’m just the hostess with the most-est.”
