Tim Allen Is Happy To Be Back For Latest ‘Santa Clause 4’

Tim Allen played Scott Calvin in the original The Santa Clause movie in 1994 and has since reprised his role as the divorced dad who accidentally takes up Santa’s role after he suffers a fall from the roof on Christmas Eve. The John Pasquin-directed movie has fast become a holiday staple for families with its blend of comedy, warmth, and relatability.

The first, The Santa Clause, was well-received by viewers, who became acquainted with Tim’s excellent delivery of his role and natural humor. This success birthed two more sequels in 2002 and 2006, after which it seemed production was done. Thankfully, the classic might make a comeback soon, even though Disney+ currently shows a limited series version.

It all starts with Tim’s character, Scott, having to wear the famous costume in place of the real Santa— a move that changes his life forever. In the second installment, Scott is faced with the task of finding Mrs. Claus, and here, Tim’s romantic side becomes prominent. The next release, The Escape Clause, shows “Santa” as the protagonist against the crafty villain Jack Frost.

Last year, the series titled The Santa Clause premiered with Tim and his co-star, Elizabeth Mitchell reprising their roles in the ongoing season 2. “I’m a sci-fi guy and I love stories. The fact that we haven’t really figured out Cal’s potential yet, and we’re seeing a lot of potential for Sandra that all of a sudden opened up,” Tim said earlier this month.

Scott’s son might take over

Tim, who is set to be back again as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5, hinted at the possibility of a final install of The Santa Clause in the spirit of his willingness to reprise his roles. “Even me as I go, ‘Wow, this could go somewhere,’” he said. “We don’t know where this could go. And all of a sudden me, as a sci-fi guy, thinking this could be a whole other world.”

The Direct shared their idea of what the final movie might look like if the network goes ahead with it, although they believe a season 3 of the series is more likely. “But that movie could deliver its own emotional story as well. With Eric Lloyd coming back in a recurring role as Scott’s son, Charlie, a fourth movie could possibly look at him finally taking over the family business, especially if he could do it after his own children get a little bit older,” the report read.
