Fans Beg Bruce Willis’ Family To Respect His Privacy After Daughter Posts Heartbreaking Video Of Him

Since Bruce Willis’ diagnosis with Frontotemporal Dementia, his family has expressed their support by being open about his health on social media. More recently, his second daughter, Scout LaRue, shared a heart-wrenching clip of the former actor during Thanksgiving, which received mixed reactions from fans.

In the first snap, Scout stretched out her hand to Bruce, who looked a shadow of his former self. She later posted another video of her hand lying in his right hand. The Die Hard actor looked rather distracted in both clips and would not look directly into the camera.

Fans think the Willis’ should stop posting

While some commend Bruce’s wife, Emma Hemming, and his adult daughters for sharing about FTD from time to time, others think the family should respect the actor’s privacy at this point. “That’s so sad…and the look in his face is devastating. I hate that he has to go through this. So painful to see,” someone wrote.

A fan simply asked Scout to “stop posting pics of your dad!” with another agreeing with a similar comment, “They need to respect his privacy. Why are they posting?” “Sad seeing him in this shape,” another reply read. Others simply thought it heartwarming to see his children spend quality time with him during this difficult phase. “Hate knowing this is happening to him. Love seeing his daughters smile with him,” a user quipped.

Why does Bruce’s family post him?

Emma, Bruce’s wife of fourteen years, has previously expressed her reasons for sharing about her husband on social media: She seeks to help others who are dealing with a sick family member or burdened by FTD in general. “I see that what I share matters to others who may be struggling, and in a small way makes them feel seen and understood,” she explained.

The 45-year-old also sees her Instagram followers as her community, helping to lighten her load as Bruce’s primary caregiver through their constant support. A few months ago, she had a vulnerable moment where she confessed to the difficulty of her current role in Bruce’s life. “So I know it looks like I’m out living my best life. I have to make a conscious effort every single day to live the best life that I can,” she wrote, reminding care partners to take care of themselves as well.
