Dog Named Elvis Adopted By Elvis Impersonator After Being Only Dog Left At Chicago Shelter

Elvis was the last dog to get adopted from a Chicago animal shelter and welfare organization named Anti-Cruelty Society. The shelter held the “Fall In Love” adoption event over the weekend where no one wanted Elvis, sparking pity from social media users in the past week.

The society finally announced that he had found a home on Friday, to the delight of Elvis’ growing fanbase. “His adopters had been waiting for the right time to welcome a dog into their family, and once they saw Elvis on the news, they couldn’t deny that it was fate!” they shared.

Elvis was adopted by a couple, one of whom used to work as an Elvis impersonator. According to the shelter, they are “head over heels in love with their new family member.” The new dog owners said, “When no one else wanted him, we found him. We’re all a bunch of misfits.”

They chose to keep his name and posed for photos which the anti-cruelty society posted to their Instagram. They also thanked those who amplified the call for Elvis’ adoption before he finally found owners. “We are so grateful to the community for helping Elvis find his forever home!” they wrote.

Reactions to Elvis’ adoption

Elvis’ fanbase was glad to see him with his new family. They flooded the comments with excitement and gratitude for the kind couple. “I’m SO happy to see this,” someone wrote. “Your post about him being the only dog who didn’t get adopted at your event broke my heart. So excited for Elvis and his new family!”

The three-year-old pup was first brought to the shelter by the Field Services team as a stray dog. He had a fractured pelvis, and though he got therapy and care, Elvis still has a high risk of developing arthritis as he ages. “It’s always so sad to see how long some dogs are at the shelter until you get to see them with the right family and know that they were just waiting for each other,” another follower quipped.
