Matthew Perry’s Ex-Girlfriend Claims He May Have Relapsed Before His Death

Former model Kayti Edwards dated the late Friends star Matthew Perry in 2006 after they met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Although their romance was short-lived, they remained friends and even worked together in 2011.

Weeks after Perry’s tragic death, Kayti told the UK Sun her late ex-boyfriend may have relapsed before his passing. “I know Matthew, and I know that he wouldn’t have just drowned,” she told the outlet. “I think he might have taken pills in the week leading up to this.”

Despite Kayti’s claims, the toxicology reports prove he was clean of drugs at the time of his death, as he tested negative for fentanyl or meth. There were no illicit drugs in his Pacific Palisades apartment either, however, Kayti insists “things aren’t adding up.”

She added that the reports do not surprise her because Perry was intentional about keeping his drug abuse dealings secret. “He was paranoid and would take them all, so there wasn’t any evidence, and then go out for more when he was ready to,” she added.

Kayti also shared that she used to pick up “cocaine, heroin, and crack” for the late Friends star while she was pregnant in 2011. “I was like five months pregnant going down and getting stuff for him. He would say, ‘No one’s going to pull over a pregnant girl,” she recalled in a 2020 interview.

Kayti further explained that Perry’s Instagram post from a few days before his passing means he was likely back to using drugs. He had posted a snap of him in a jacuzzi with the caption, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”

“That Mattman thing was not something he did when he was sober,” she revealed. “Mattman would come out when he was not sober, and he felt kind of invincible.”

She backed up her assumption by recalling their time together when he was “getting high” around her. “Although I was not getting high with him, and when I would say maybe he should cool it a little bit with the drugs, he would say, ‘No, I’m Mattman.’” she recalled.

In addition, Kayti says the actor loved being in the water after taking alcohol for drugs. “I had to go over there and get him out of his neighbor’s pool,” Kayti added. “He had a thing with water when he was doing drugs.”
