Molly Ringwald and her daughter, Mathilda, showed off recently in bedazzled dresses at the American Ballet Theater Fall Gala in New York City. The Sixteen Candles actress wore a long-sleeved white sequin sheer gown with a light pink slip-under.
Molly accessorized with red pumps and a light pink clutch, finishing the look with silver earrings and red lipstick. She posted photos from the event with designer Zac Posen, and his fiancé wearing matching tuxedos.

Mathilda, who wore a silver sequin midi gown with a plunging neckline and nude pumps, told PEOPLE that her mother taught her all the essential things she needs to know about life. “Be prepared to wait and be nice, which you should always be anyways,” Molly told her. For the event, the twenty-year-old accessorized quite differently from her mom, wearing a small snake print purse, topping it off with gray smokey eye makeup and pink lipstick.

Like her mother, Mathilda also has her sights on the acting industry. She has worked in the fashion industry in recent years, landing her first campaign with J. Crew in 2017. She also walked the runway for Andrew Warren’s New York Fashion Week show in 2020.
In 2021, Molly told Yahoo News! of her daughter’s plan to begin acting. “My elder daughter wants to be an actress. She’s pretty serious about it,” she said. Now, Mathilda will star in the upcoming romantic comedy film The Idea of You alongside Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.
Confident in her daughter’s abilities, Molly said, “She knows what she’s in for. She learned how to do it before but it’s a hard job.”
