Eddie Van Halen’s Son, Wolfgang, Gets Married And Honors Eddie In Special Way

After eight years together, Wolfgang Van Halen and Andraia Allsop tied the knot last weekend in an intimate ceremony. The couple wed in the living room of their Los Angeles home, followed by a reception in the backyard with their 90 guests.

Wolfgang lost his celebrity father, Eddie Van Halen, in 2020 following a long battle with throat cancer. The couple chose to celebrate their union with family and their closest associates in honor of the late musician. “Our goal was just to bring all of our closest family and friends together,” Andraia told People.

Preserving Eddie’s legacy

As a way to “include” Eddie, the duo had his music playing in the background while Wolfgang walked down the aisle with his mother, Valerie Bertinelli. “The song that my father had written for me, it’s an instrumental piece called ‘316.’ It’ll be a nice way to include my dad,” he said.

They also left an empty chair for Eddie, who died at 65, as a way to include his presence. “One of the things that I really wanted was a way to bring Wolf’s dad into it,” Andraia added. She also hand-made “little memory charms with a picture of Wolfie and his dad on it,” while Valerie gifted her a necklace she got from Eddie.

Eddie would have been proud

Valerie expressed her joy at her son getting married, noting that Eddie would have “been absolutely beaming,” were he alive to witness the wedding. “It brings me such a nice sense of peace knowing Wolfie and Andraia have each other for the rest of their lives,” she added. “They’re just so comfortable together.”

Speaking of being comfortable together, Wolfgang noted that they always felt like a married couple, but needed to make it official. “It’s kind of just a formality,” he said. “It’s just going to be really fun to throw a party with everybody in our lives that we love and is able to make it.”

Wolfgang, who is a musician just like his dad, refused to perform at his wedding. “I think people’s first impression is like, ‘Oh, are you going to play something?’ And it’s like, no, that’s the last thing I want to do. I’m going on tour in 11 days. I don’t want to,” he told the outlet.
