While on her first tour in three years, Madonna got candid with her fans about her emergency hospital visit earlier this year. During the opening night on Saturday at the O2 Arena, she admitted to thinking the infection would kill her. “I didn’t think I was gonna make it,” she said.
She also revealed that she did not know what was going on throughout her stay at the hospital while also thanking her children for speeding up her recovery. “I forgot five days of my life— or death. I didn’t really know where I was,” she said.

The Celebration tour was initially set to debut in July, but after Madonna broke down while rehearsing in New York, the tour was put on hold until she fully recovered. According to a source, the Material Girl resumed rehearsals just two months after the “several-day stay in the ICU.”

She also thanked them on Instagram a month after the news broke while acknowledging her fans and friends. “Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital, and I can reflect.
