Pamela Anderson is redefining beauty
Jamie Lee Curtis is standing in solidarity with Pamela Anderson for a simple but powerful act the model recently performed. The former Playboy Playmate, who just turned this summer, attended multiple high-profile events in Paris last week and she did it all without any makeup on, a move that has Curtis offering abundant praise.
Both Anderson and Curtis are among several big-name icons who are reshaping the conversation around beauty while condemning ageism in their respective industries. Anderson has already proudly boasted, “I can’t wait to see myself old,” and now she, with enthusiastic encouragement from Curtis, is showing others how to feel the same about themselves and embrace their barefaced beauty.
Anderson was an unexpected star of Paris Fashion Week, both for her stylish ensemble and for her bold choice to forgo makeup entirely and show off her natural beauty. Comments on Anderson’s own Instagram posts from the event call it a great lesson for others to follow. Similarly, Curtis took to her own Instagram page to show a close-up of Anderson’s bare face and voice her full support for the Baywatch alum.
“THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN,” she declared, continuing, “@pamelaanderson in the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion.”
Anderson’s choice and Curtis’s subsequent praise sparked an engaging debate online. Some of the Scream Queen’s followers agreed with Curtis, saying, “She looks more beautiful than ever before.” others retorted, “She’s had a ton of surgery what are you talking about.” Others fell somewhere in the middle and wanted to focus on the very act of Anderson making a choice she felt comfortable with that ultimately made her happy.
“I think that rather applauding women wearing no makeup, we should be applauding that she seems to have found her comfort zone and seems to be embracing what that is for her at that age,” another comment proposed. “. I don’t think we should start applauding less makeup, more makeup, etc., but rather women embracing what THEY want to do in the moment and not what anyone else wants them to do.”
That is essentially where Anderson falls in the spectrum of this discussion, too. “I always said I’d recognize myself when I was old in the mirror,” Anderson said on the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. “I want to let my hair go kind of natural gray, put my little straw hat on, don’t wear makeup. I mean, that’s my comfortable kind of state.”
