Patrick Duffy Embraces Love A Second Time After The Death Of His First Wife

Patrick Duffy has encountered a series of profound challenges throughout his life, starting from the brutal and senseless murder of his parents in 1986. Yet, fate wasn’t finished testing the actor’s resilience as he suffered another heart-wrenching loss when his beloved wife of  43 years, Carlyn Rosser, died of cancer in 2017.

However, amidst the shadows of adversity, Duffy’s story took a surprising turn recently after finding love again and kindled a new flame of romance with actress Linda Purl who is renowned for her role in the iconic series Happy Days.

As the world grappled with isolation and uncertainty during the lockdown, the actor, who was still reeling from the loss of his beloved wife, found himself drawn to Purl during their chats via Zoom.

In a 2020 interview with PEOPLE magazine,  Duffy unveiled the touching story of his blossoming relationship with Purl. He disclosed that as the weeks passed, a remarkable connection started to take shape, as they found themselves exclusively communicating through text messages. Eventually, he took a bold step by making a significant move to bridge the physical distance that separated them. “I loaded up my car and drove 20 hours and ended up on her doorstep just to see if it was real,” he shared. “We haven’t been apart since.”

The picturesque setting was none other than Budapest, Hungary, where the 74-year-old is presently engrossed in a movie project. “Beautiful Budapest!” she wrote in the caption. “Does not disappoint.”
