In June, Shannen Doherty, who is battling stage four cancer, announced the heartbreaking news that the disease has progressed and metastasized to her brain. The actress initially received her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, and after a series of therapies and mastectomy, she shared the hopeful news in 2017 that her cancer was in remission. However, Doherty shocked her fans when she announced that the disease relapsed and had progressed to stage four in 2020.

Recently, her Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star, Brian Austin Green, shed light on the profound and ongoing health challenges that the 52-year-old actress is bravely enduring in her battle against terminal cancer during an interview with the Herald Sun.

Brian Austin Green was one of the first people she confided in about her diagnosis

During an interview with Good Morning America, Doherty disclosed that she initially chose to keep her diagnosis a secret and continue her work on the BH90210 reboot. However, she changed her mind and told her few trusted circles of which Green was among. “I had moments of great anxiety where I thought, ‘I can’t really do this,” Doherty told the news outlet. “And Brian was the one person who – of that group of people that knew – that I told, like, pretty quickly and said, ‘Here, this is what I’m dealing with.”

Doherty further explained that the 50-year-old was a source of support for her all through the production. “So prior to shooting, he would always call me and say, ‘Listen, you know, whatever happens, I have your back,’” she confessed. “He would look at me and be like, ‘We got this, kiddo,’ so Brian helped me through a lot.”
