That ’70s Show is an American television sitcom that initially aired from 1998 to 2006. It’s set, as the title suggests, in the 1970s in the fictional town of Point Place, Wisconsin, and follows the lives of a group of teenagers, their families, and friends. Although it’s been out of production for 17 years, the show’s enduring popularity has ensured its presence in syndication and on streaming platforms, like Peacock and Amazon, as well as through its airing on Laff, a digital network owned by Katz Broadcasting.

Recently, That ’70s Show and one of its prominent stars, Danny Masterson, have been under increased scrutiny and speculation from fans and the public following the significant development in Masterson’s legal case. On September 7, the 47-year-old was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of rape.

The recent judgment on Masterson’s case has naturally raised questions and concerns from some fans about future airings of the series, which is now uncertain, much like the situation with Bill Cosby and The Cosby Show.

Following Cosby’s conviction in 2018 during the retrial of his sexual assault case, a significant repercussion ensued as the iconic television series, The Cosby Show, was swiftly removed from broadcast by TV networks such as TV Land, Aspire, BET’s Centric, and Bounce TV.

Netizens express surprise as Peacock retains ‘That ’70s Show’

During the agonizing trial of Masterson’s sexual misconduct case, it was reported that some of his former costars rose to his defense, thus prompting a reevaluation of the show, the cast, and the networks.

In an era of increased awareness and scrutiny of issues related to sexual misconduct and accountability, many fans and members of the public have taken to social media to express their disappointment and surprise at the inaction of the TV networks airing the show. “Did Peacock remove That 70s Show from their streaming platform yet?” a fan stated, while another person wrote, “So basically the ENTIRE ass cast of that 70s show has decided to defend Danny then? @peacock – remove the show from your platform.”
