Goldie Hawn Planning On ‘Telling All’ In New Memoir Before She Dies

Goldie Hawn, who thrilled her fans with some of her life experiences in her 2004 book, A Lotus Grows In The Mud, is now gearing up to channel her literary prowess once more. The 77-year-old is set to release a new memoir that explores her personal and professional odyssey.

This time, Goldie intends to delve into the complexities of her past two marriages, highlighting the challenges that accompanied them. Most notably, her memoir will cast a luminous spotlight on her enduring and deeply profound partnership with the acclaimed actor Kurt Russell—a relationship that has endured and thrived for the remarkable span of four decades.

Goldie Hawn says her two previous marriages failed because of insecurities

Before meeting Kurt Russell, Hawn had tied the knot twice. The actress married film director Gus Trikonis in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 16, 1969. Although they initially shared a bond, their relationship gradually turned sour, leading to their separation on April 9, 1973, and their divorce was formalized in 1976.

Following this chapter, the actress found love again, this time with musician Bill Hudson. Their union culminated in marriage on July 3, 1976, and they welcomed two children, Oliver Hudson, born on September 7, 1976, and daughter Kate Hudson, who arrived on April 19, 1979. Regrettably, their marital journey was short-lived, as they decided to part ways.

In a candid revelation during a past interview, the 77-year-old  openly attributed the crash of her previous marriages to her ex-husbands’ struggles with insecurity stemming from her burgeoning career. “The basic problem was that the two men I fell in love with and married just could not cope with the pressure of having a wife who was more successful than they were,” Hawn stated.

Marrying Kurt Russell isn’t in her books

Goldie and Russell first met on the set of the 1968 film The One And Only, Genuine, Original Family Band. However, the lovers didn’t explore any romantic relationship until they collaborated on the 1983 film Swing Shift following Goldie’s second divorce.

For 40 years, the deeply committed couple has defied the conventional marriage norms by choosing not to exchange vows. In a candid interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace in July 2023, Goldie shed light on her decision to remain unmarried to Kurt Russell. “When it doesn’t work out, it ends up to be big business, it’s always ugly,” Goldie confessed. “Somebody actually has to take a look and say, ‘How many divorces actually are fun? How many divorces actually don’t cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before? How many divorces have hurt children?”‘
