Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise has been a devoted member of the church of Scientology since the late ‘90s. This decision has strained his relationship with his daughter, Suri, whom he welcomed with his ex-wife Katie Holmes in April 2006.
Cruise and Katie married in a Scientologist ceremony in November 2006; however, after over half a decade, the couple decided to call it quits. Katie filed a divorce suit and requested the custody of their daughter, Suri, while Cruise was away on a movie set in Iceland. Since their separation, Katie, who was born a catholic, has returned to her faith and raised her daughter the same way.
Tom Cruise set to ditch Scientology
Since the breakup, Tom Cruise has continued to fulfill his obligation to the church of Scientology. However, recently, there have been rumors that the actor is considering renouncing his religious stance to mend his broken relationship with his daughter.

A report by The Mirror detailed that Cruise has refused to visit the headquarters of the Church of Scientology in the UK despite staying in the UK in the last three years filming movies. This sole decision serves as a pointer that the actor might be done with church, however, Cruise hasn’t affirmed or disputed the rumors.
Tom might lose his relationship with two of his children to be with Suri
Sadly, it seems Tom Cruise’s past decisions might be coming back to haunt him should he decide to leave the Church of Scientology. Cruise facilitated the conversion of his two older children, Connor and Isabella, who have now fully embraced the ideals and doctrines of the church. The actor stands a chance of losing his relationship with Connor and Isabella should he renounce his membership in the church.
His daughter, Isabella, recently shared that religion saved her while announcing that she now holds a key position in the church. “It’s a few meltdowns and running to the bathroom to have a mini-episode, but it is worth everything because you will get through,” she stated. “This is a gift to yourself and so many others. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t going to be an auditor or aren’t going to join staff. If you are going to make it as a being for the long run, you NEED this. That’s the truth… so stop messing around and get going.”
