Bruce Willis’ Daughter Shares How Dementia Has Affected Her Father’s Life

Bruce Willis Dementia struggle

The world was sad to learn of Bruce Willis’ retirement due to his health condition. The Die Hard actor has been dealing with frontotemporal dementia for months, and his family, especially his wife, Emma Hemming, have been vocal about his struggle with the illness.

Bruce’s third child, Tallulah, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Demi Moore, recently gave more insight into how much dementia has affected Bruce. Aside from the negative impact of dementia, she told Vogue that he can still move around on his own and recognizes her. “Thankfully, dementia has not affected his mobility,” she said.

The 29-year-old shared that Bruce loves to stay “on the first floor of the house, somewhere in the big open plan of the kitchen-dining-living room, or his office.” The office appears to be his favorite place, as Tallulah mostly shared details about his time there.

“That office has always been a kind of window into what he’s most interested in at any given moment. Recently I found a scrap of paper there on which he had written, simply, ‘Michael Jordan.’ I wish I knew what he was thinking,” she said. Tallulah added that his room had music playing all the time and contained items he collected over the years.

Bruce’s early symptoms were noticed on set

Bruce had been showing signs of dementia since 2017, while on the set of the M. Night Shylaman film Glass. Sources claimed that he appeared “slightly off,” and would get confused about what he was doing. “Bruce seemed a little confused at times and needed a little more help with his lines,” they said. “This was the first time that I had heard anything about his health.”

“We thought it could be anything from aging to maybe even being a little drunk— common mistakes that people make when seeing the first signs of anything like dementia— to just not wanting to be there,” the source told Page Six. “In reflection, Bruce may have been struggling with all of this back then.”

Also, Bruce’s wife got candid days ago, admitting that she was struggling with being Bruce’s primary caretaker. “I don’t want it to be misconstrued that… like, I’m good, because I’m not,” she said in the video clip.
