Rick Springfield started his journey as a member of the pop rock band Zoot from 1969 to 1971 before launching his solo career with the release of his debut single, “Speak to the Sky.” In 1981, he introduced “Jessie’s Girl,” a single that rapidly garnered immense popularity, ultimately earning him the prestigious Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
Despite more than forty years passing since the release of the hit song “Jessie’s Girl,” the musician who has always been tipped as a sex icon and received a lot of attention from female fans has managed to keep his physique in excellent shape.
During a recent conversation with People magazine, the 73-year-old artist shared the undisclosed factor contributing to his well-maintained physique.
He also maintains a daily exercise regimen and a pescatarian diet. “I work out every day,” Springfield admitted to the news outlet. “I just got a trainer, and I’ve been working out with him. Basically, I watch what I eat, and I try and stay active.”
The singer openly admitted that he experimented with a vegan diet but confessed that it had a negative impact on his appearance. “I tried being a vegan, and it made me feel great,” Springfield said, “but I looked like hell.”
He also mentioned that he chose to reintroduce fish into his diet after a colleague expressed concern about his physical appearance. “A friend of mine came up to me and said, “Are you OK?” I got so thin,” the 73-year-old confessed. “So I had to put fish back in [for protein].”
