Dolly Parton Shares Cover Of Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’ And It’s Every Fan’s Rock ‘n Roll Dream

“Jolene” crooner Dolly Parton recently shared the fourth single on her upcoming album, Rockstar. The 77-year-old is very much in her rock and roll era, as she has taken the Queen hit and added her dynamic guitar-driven touch to it.

The lines of the song project how fame and fortune have been “no bed of roses,” and she closes it out with the famous “We Will Rock You” beat, complete with a chanting crowd and some ad-lib from Dolly. The full song is due for release in November via Butterfly Records and Big Machine Label Group.

‘Rock Star’ features nine new songs

The new album features nine original songs in addition to rock covers and collaborations. Its lead single, which Dolly revealed in May, can be considered her most political song to date — “World On Fire” talks about the world’s present state.

She also shared two more songs from the album last month, including “Bygones,” featuring Judas Priest’s Rob Halford and Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx; and a cover of Heart’s “Magic Man” with Ann Wilson. Pre-orders for Rockstar are ongoing on her website and across streaming platforms.

Dolly’s album was inspired by Hall of Fame induction

Last year, Dolly was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and her fittingly named album was inspired by the win. The singer, who is also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, shared during her acceptance speech that she is glad to be “a rock star now!”

“This is a very special night for me. I’m sure a lot of you knew that back when they said they were gonna put me in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I didn’t feel like I had done enough to deserve that. And I didn’t understand at the time that it’s about more than that,” she added. Per retiring, Dolly shows no signs of dropping the mic soon. She recently remarked that she would rather “drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday.”
