Robin Williams was renowned for his exceptional comedic prowess and boundless energy, which earned him fame and admiration in the entertainment industry. He effortlessly transitioned between comedic and dramatic roles, showcasing his versatile acting abilities in TV appearances and films such as Mork & Mindy, Good Morning, Vietnam; Dead Poets Society, and Good Will Hunting.
Sadly, the actor committed suicide at the age of 63 in 2014 after suffering from depression for years. Recently, two of Williams’s children, Zelda Rae and Zachary Pym, came together to celebrate their late dad’s 72nd posthumous birthday.
The duo took to social media to pay tribute to their late father and honor his lasting legacy. “Happy 72nd, Dad! Was remembering how much I used to love that look you’d give. That look with a mischievous, loving grin that your friends and loved ones knew so well. Joyous and curious and wondrous,” Zachary wrote in the caption alongside a throwback picture of his father wearing headphones and smiling. “Miss you and love you forever!”
Zelda also noted that if her dad were still alive, he would have stood in solidarity with the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild during their ongoing strikes, as he was an ardent supporter of the organizations. “Happy birthday to Poppo,” she tweeted while posting a snap of Williams during a 2007 strike holding up a sign with the words, ‘WGA ON STRIKE,’ “who definitely would’ve been out there fighting the good fight for art and artists today and always.”
Fans of the ace comedian also joined in paying tribute to the ace comedian. “Love to you and your family on your dad’s birthday,” one wrote. “May he forever rest in peace — his memory lives on forever in the hearts and minds of people the world over — not just for how amazing of a comedian and actor he was, but also for the man he was. Love and respect always.”
“Robin Williams was one of the most beautiful souls to ever grace this earth. Thank You for Sharing your Dad with us all,” another person tweeted. “We miss him greatly. He’s our whole childhood.”
“Your dad brought so MANY people joy and comfort during some of the hardest days of our lives. As a youngster watching him play Mork it was some of the happiest times to have him come into our home those evenings,” an Instagram user wrote. “Please know we all carry his love and his love for you with us always. There are very few celebrities I can say that about but he was definitely one of them. Big hugs!”
