Candace Cameron Bure Shares Important Lesson Bob Saget Taught Her

Grief, unfortunately, can be a powerful teacher. That was exactly the case for Candace Cameron Bure who, along with the rest of the Full House cast, bid an untimely farewell to their colleague Bob Saget in early 2022. But when Saget died, it also cemented an important lesson for Bure concerning appreciation and loss.

Saget was just 65 when he died on January 9 of last year after suffering blunt trauma to the head. Since then, he has been honored and mourned by his wife Kelly Rizzo as well as his former colleagues from Full House, some of whom wish to do a future project together in his name. Until then, Bure carries with her a lesson she learned thanks to her association with Saget – reinforced by his passing.

The 47-year-old actress runs The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast. While speaking with singer Katy Nichole, Bure reflected on the loss of Saget and the lesson it imparted.

You were talking about not letting that moment pass without telling someone that you love them and kinds things about them or whatever words you want to share,” said Bure in reference to a new song by Nichole. “It often reminds me of my very good friend Bob Saget, because he was also that person, and he always told you that he loved you, no matter what.”

She continued, “Since he passed over a year ago, it’s been a constant reminder on my mind, and when you have people like that in your life, you realize how valuable it is. So, I’m grateful for that relationship to show me how much that means and that I can pass it forward.”

Appreciation – and voicing that appreciation whenever possible – is the name of the game. On the anniversary of Saget’s death, Bure shared a tribute on social media, along with a powerful message. “I stayed up for hours watching videos of Bob on my phone,” she shared. “Videos I couldn’t watch a year ago because it hurt too much. Last night they made me laugh.”

She continued, “They comforted me and warmed my heart. I watched them over and over and laughed so hard. I miss him so much and I’m grateful he was my friend for so many years. I love you, Bob *now go hug a friend like Bob would.”

In short, never miss a chance to let a loved one know just how special they are. Treasure the present, as Saget would want, as he inspired others to do.
