Valerie Bertinelli Shares How Botox Changed Her Face In Response To Snarky Comment

Recently, Valerie Bertinelli took her time to explain the downside of her botox procedure from years ago after a social media user dropped a sarcastic comment about her appearance. “‘The Botox looks great’…I know you didn’t mean that as a compliment,” she said in response to the comment. Rather than be wholly offended, the 63-year-old thought it was a good time to share some regrets and lessons.

The actress admitted to getting the procedure done six years ago to fix her puffy eyes; however, it did not turn out as she had hoped. The actress also addressed her perceived intention behind the comment, which in her words, was to “shame” her. Valerie encouraged women to be supportive rather than critical of other women’s cosmetic choices.

Why did Valerie get Botox?

The actress opted for Botox to improve her appearance. “As you can see from that picture, it doesn’t look like me,” Valerie said, referring to a photo she pulled up from six years back. “It sort of like changed the shape of my eyebrows,” she continued. “And what I thought it was going to do was help me with my genetically puffy eyes. They’ve always annoyed me. I’ve always wanted those deep-set eyes. Don’t have ’em. Never going to get ’em. So, just live with it.”

The Food Network star also revealed that in a bid to de-puff her eyes, she had not consumed alcohol “basically this whole year” because she assumed drinking made her eyes so. She also added that she makes an effort to rest well with supplements like magnesium and melatonin but still gets dark circles regardless. “Genetics! So, let’s not shame people. We’re all in this together!” she added, explaining that her puffy eyes are natural.

She explains the reason for her patient response

One might wonder why Valerie took great care in responding to that one short comment amongst many, but the mother of one had valid reasons for her decision. “This is why I wanted to talk about your comment…because you’re trying to shame me, and you’re a woman. Like, what made you go out of your way to try to shame me? And I’m not the first person to try to be shamed on TikTok or Instagram or any place,” she said.

Valerie also advised women not to shame people for only trying to make themselves feel better “as they go out into this insane, flippin’ crazy world.” “Some people can do Botox, it looks amazing on them. I am not one of them, unfortunately, or I would’ve kept doing it. But thankfully, it faded. I couldn’t wait for it to fade,” she continued. She emphasized via the video caption that she has no intent of shaming the commenter, and no one should either. Her caption read, “Let’s all just talk about it and BE KIND.”
