In the highly anticipated fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Harrison Ford returns to the big screen as the iconic adventurer-archaeologist. Joining him on this exciting adventure are acclaimed actors such as Mads Mikkelsen and Boyd Holbrook. However, the addition of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is known for her roles in Fleabag and Solo, is a new dynamic to the film.
The actress portrays Helena Shaw, Indy’s goddaughter and his latest partner-in-crime, adding depth and intrigue to the storyline. However, it seems that the sense of fun and adventure that permeates the movie extends beyond the camera, as Waller-Bridge revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that both she and Ford had “a lot of fun” on set during the production of the film.
Harrison Ford and his co-star would prank each other on set
Waller-Bridge shared an interesting anecdote about her first meeting with Ford. She described their interaction as unique, as it took place through a voicemail Ford left her. “It was actually great because I got my first screaming reaction out of the way without him actually having to be there,” she admitted.

She further stated that seeing him in person was so interesting as they quickly bonded. “He immediately went, ‘Hey!’ like an old friend,” Waller-Bridge added. “And from that day on, we were fine. We read the script for about five minutes, and we all had a scotch for an hour. So, it was perfect.”
Phoebe Waller-Bridge says she pulled a prank on Harrison Ford
The 37-year-old explained that immediately she and Ford started to work together, their relationship on set was marked by seriousness, playful banter, and a lighthearted atmosphere. “The most extraordinary thing about working with Harrison is that you’re definitely at work — in that his work ethic is so on point, and his discipline is so extraordinary — but because he’s that specific and the foundation of the work is really strong, the rest of it can be really fun,” Waller-Bridge confessed. “There were a lot of pranks … lots of pranks.”
Waller-Bridge reminisced about a mischievous moment when she hid in the 80-year-old’s trailer while wearing an Indiana Jones face mask so that she could scare him. “It scared the crap out of him, actually,” she noted. “Even though that ‘actually’ is only represented by him blinking three times and saying, ‘Get the hell out of my trailer.” However, Ford apparently got his revenge 20 minutes later by sneaking up on her wearing a mask of her face and tying his shirt in a bow to mimic her character, Helena.
