Published June 23, 2023

Bobby Sherman gained fame in the late ’60s and early ’70s as a teen idol and pop star after he was introduced to Jack Good, who began to feature him on his musical show, Shindig. The 81-year-old also appeared in the TV series, Here Come the Brides, where he played the role of Jeremy Bolt, a part that cemented his position as a teen idol.

Sherman’s music career took off in 1969, and by 1971, he had released seven Top 40 hit tracks that included “Little Woman,” “Easy Come, Easy Go,” and “Julie, Do Ya Love Me.” His cheerful face and unkempt shoulder-length hair also became prominent features on various merchandise such as posters, lunch boxes, and magazines.

Sherman was also cast in the 1971 Partridge Family spinoff Getting Together. Although the show was aired for just half a season, it was physically draining as he spent five days every week on the production set. Due to the tolls of work on his health, Sherman decided to take time off his acting and musical endeavors and focus on other things.

Sherman also became officially sworn in as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 1992, where he served as the chief medical training officer. Also in 2011, the now 81-year-old and his second wife, Brigitte Sherman, established The Brigitte and Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation, a philanthropic endeavor aimed at empowering Ghanaian children by giving them access to quality education.
