Harrison Ford, who will soon celebrate his 81st birthday, has been in the entertainment industry for over four decades. The actor is known for his stellar acting in the Indiana Jones and Star Wars franchises, which helped him build a career full of leading roles.
Ford is excited about hitting a new milestone despite the challenges that come with aging. The actor revealed recently in an interview with People that he has no plan of retiring yet as he is eager to continue to engage fans and movie lovers. “I don’t want to be young again,” Ford said. “I was young, and now I enjoy being old.”
Harrison Ford never hoped to be famous
Ford candidly revealed that he didn’t delve into the entertainment industry because of the fame but just wanted to perform his act and showcase his talent. “I am very gratified that I still have the opportunities that I have to work, and I owe that to the audience,” he said. “No one ever believes this, but I never wanted to be rich and famous.”

Ford, however, appreciates the support and love of his fans for making him an American cultural icon. “ [I] enjoy making movies more now than I ever did. I never thought that I would be a leading man,” Ford humbly said. “I really was just hoping I could make a living as an actor and not have to supplement my income with some other side hustle.”
‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’
Ford’s last installment of the Indiana Jones series will air in a few weeks’ time, and the actor confirmed that an end has come for his on-screen character in the series. “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character,” Ford revealed. “I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”
Recently the actor earned an award of recognition and a standing ovation from the audience at the Cannes Film Festival for his work in the fan-favorite series. “I was just trying to keep myself composed. There was very generous applause from the crowd; it was positive and humbling and nice,” he said.
Ford turns 81 on July 13.
