Fonda openly discussed the intricate dynamics of her connection with her former co-star and fellow actor, Robert Redford. “He did not like to kiss,” she admitted. “I never said anything [to him about it]. And he’s always in a bad mood, and I always thought it was my fault. The last movie I made with him was six years ago. What was I, about 80 years old or something like that, and I finally knew I had grown up. When he would come on the set three hours late in a bad mood, I knew it wasn’t my fault.”

The actress also shared some cherished memories from her career, particularly highlighting her collaboration with her father, Henry Fonda, and Katharine Hepburn in the film On Golden Pond. This remarkable project not only brought them together but also garnered them all Oscar nominations while Henry and Hepburn won their awards. “It was one of the most glorious experiences of my life,” Fonda reminisced. “It was absolutely wonderful. I made the movie for my father. But the person who I learned from on that movie was Katharine.”

Additionally, Fonda emphasized the invaluable significance of female companionship. She expressed her deep admiration for her co-star Lily Tomlin with whom she shared the screen on projects like Grace and Frankie, 9 to 5, and 80 for Brady. Jane Fonda explains the secret of surviving in Hollywood

While responding to a question from a journalist, the 85-year-old spoke about the complexities of the entertainment industry. “Don’t let the f—ers get you!” she said. “You’ve got to be strong and stand up to them, but do it in a diplomatic way. You don’t want to make enemies. It’s all about relationships. That’s the big mistake I made.”

Fonda also explained the importance of keeping relationships making reference to The China Syndrome costar Michael Douglas. “I don’t think he really likes me,” she confessed, “but, he’s very diplomatic.”

The actress says she has no upcoming movie projects

While Fonda acknowledged that she currently doesn’t have any upcoming projects in the works, she expressed contentment with it. Fonda revealed that her focus now lies firmly on her active involvement in environmental activism, prioritizing her efforts towards addressing this global challenge.

“We still have reason to be hopeful if we do everything right. But I’m saying this is serious. We’ve got about seven, eight years to cut ourselves in half of what we use of fossil fuels,” she admitted. “And unfortunately, the people that have the least responsibility for it are hit the hardest — Global South, people on islands, poor people of color. It is a tragedy that we have to absolutely stop. We have to arrest and jail those men — they’re all men – [responsible for the crisis].”
