At the recently concluded 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Tom Cruise earned the award for Best in a Movie for his role in his blockbuster movie Top Gun: Maverick. A pre-recorded video of the 60-year-old flying a vintage fighter plane was posted on the Awards Twitter handle.
In the clip, the actor was seen with his coveted golden popcorn trophy and expressed his gratitude towards his immense fan following for their support and for making the win possible. “Thank you so much for this award,” Cruise said. “I make these films for you. I love you. I love entertaining you. To know how much you enjoy it, how much you appreciate it, there’s just no better feeling.”
After thanking his fans, Cruise discussed his upcoming action thriller, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, which he described as a “wild ride.”
The 60-year-old also encouraged his fans to see the movie once it is released. “You have a wonderful summer. Thank you again for letting me entertain you,” Cruise explained. “It’s an absolute privilege. We’ll see you at the movies.”
Twitter users have taken to the comment section to react to the video. Some praised Cruise for his dedication. “Just another day in #TomCruise’s life. #TopGunMaverick,” a person wrote. “I’m glad he won!” another fan wrote. “He did an outstanding performance! yes yes, you are a real champion, congratulations Tom.”

Others took to the comment section to speak about the dramatic presentation of the video. “That’s one hell of a way of accepting the award,” a tweep wrote. “Very well deserved.”
