In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Jeff Bridges spoke about the cult-classic crime-comedy film The Big Lebowski and how much he is looking forward to its sequel. It has been 25 years since the movie’s release, and Jeff is excited to reprise his role should there be a second part.
“That movie, I’m so proud to be a part of that movie. What a good one,” the Oscar-winning actor said of The Big Lebowski. The film was released in 1998, featuring Jeff as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski, alongside actors like Sam Elliot as the Stranger, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, and others.
Yes, Jeff will gladly feature in The Big Lebowski again, but only under one condition— if “the brothers” were involved. “The brothers” include Joel and Ethan Coen, who wrote, produced, and directed the movie in 1998. “The brothers, they’re mysterious and full of surprises,” Jeff said.
“You don’t know what they’re going to do, so since they’re surprising, I don’t think they’ll make a sequel. But like I say, they’re surprising, so maybe they’ll surprise me and make a sequel,” he added.
Still on The Big Lebowski, Jeff says he “cannot believe” the movie is over two decades old already. “What a good one. When you hear Lebowski was 25 years ago, I say, ‘Come on, man. I can’t believe that,” Jeff said. “It feels like it was maybe five years ago, but 25? I can’t believe it.”
“Movies are kind of like your children— they put it all in perspective,” Jeff—who has three children of his own, revealed. “They let you know how fast it’s going, because before you know it you’ve got a six-month-old, and then you turn around, and she’s 16. Movies are kind of like that.”
