Recently, Wheel of Fortune fans were left speechless by a contestant’s poor puzzle-solving skills that prevented her from winning a huge sum of money that could change her life. On the Friday episode of the show, the contestant, Micki was just three letters short of completing a puzzle after she had already landed on the $US1 million wedge that comes with a trip to Croatia.
The board displayed, “A ROARING FIRE IN THE FIRE _ _ A _ E” thus needing her to guess the three letters to fill in the blank spaces. However, Micki disappointed the live studio audience when she told Sajak to put the letter “S” on the board, which sounded off the incorrect-answer buzzer. “You got the reaction. No ‘S,’ I’m sorry,” Pat Sajak said while referring to the obvious surprise written all over the faces of the crowd.
A fan took to Twitter to analyze whether Micki’s mistake was better or worse than the other recent ones on the show. The comment sparked reactions from other social media users who surfed through the internet to bring one event which was described as the worst error ever made on Wheel of fortune.
Viewers quickly pointed out an episode on Teen Week when a contestant, Khushi made an incorrect guess of the letter on the board that read “FRE_H TROPICAL FRUIT,” thus losing a trip to Antigua. Fans of the show accused Khushi of “zoning out” and missing the obvious word, “FRESH,” by opting for the letter “G” Instead of an “S.”

Considering the fact that Wheel of Fortune has had more than 7,000 episodes since it began, it would be expected that several contestants would have won the grand prize. The show’s official TikTok account revealed in a video posted on March 5 that there have only been three candidates who have earned more than $1 million in the Wheel of Fortune franchise history ever since its debut in 1975.
Michelle Loewenstein made history in 2008 when she won the incredible prize of $1,026,080 during the last wheel spin on the game show. Autumn Erhard became the second contestant on Wheel of Fortune to win the $1 million top prize.
Also, a Silver Spring math teacher, Sarah Manchester, was the third player to win the $1 million grand prize on the famous game show. It was quite an unbelievable moment for her. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said after winning at the time. “I’m simply savoring every second of it!”
To compete for the $1 million grand prize in the bonus round, the contestant must have landed on the $1 million wedge during regular gameplay, solved, and won the accompanying puzzle.
