Catherine Zeta-Jones and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actor Michael Douglas have been married for more than two decades. The couple first met in 1998, the same year Douglas first noticed her in the film Mask of Zorro. They eventually got married in 2000 at Dylan’s plaza in New York City. Despite being together that long, the couple split in 2013, but got back together the following year.
The spark of their relationship still burns brightly, and Zeta-Jones testified to this at the red carpet premiere of Netflix’s Wednesday. “I mean, each year gets better and better, which is great,” she revealed. The couple enjoys playing golf, and like every other game they— more like Zeta-Jones— have rules; just not the kind of rules you’d think.
For Zeta-Jones, the primary rule for her husband is if she wins, he flashes her right there and then. “The rules are I have to whip it out if I don’t hit it past the ladies’ tees, which I manage most of the time,” Douglas told The Guardian. “But there have been times when we’re playing alone and I have to give her a little show because we are competitive. But only when I play with my wife,” the Wall Street actor added.
However, Zeta-Jones revealed that her controversial golfing rule is not limited to Douglas. “It’s not just my husband, it’s any man I play with,” she said on an episode of The Graham Norton Show. The audience went into a frenzy once she said that, probably shocked that she gets flashed by other men apart from Douglas.
Zeta-Jones proudly revealed during the interview on The Graham Norton Show that she “can kick his [Douglas’] ass in golf.” She further made a rule that, “If he ducks a shot and can’t get his ball…he has to take his pants off . . . drop them . . . expose himself in some way,” she continued.
The interview also had other celebrities such as Will Smith, Ryan Reynolds, and Toby Jones sitting alongside her. Ryan spoke up, asking about what the paparazzi are doing. “There has been an issue with paparazzi, but I made him go into the bushes and drop his pants . . . a deal is a deal,” Zeta-Jones answered the Deadpool actor.
The couple credited their marital success to the quality time they spend together and how they maintain a strong connection, even after having two children. “My husband and I spend a lot of time together because, unlike so many couples, we’ve never had a 9-to-5 job where it’s consistent,” Zeta-Jones told the Wall Street Journal. “… So we’ve had in our relationship huge amounts of time where we’ve been just us.”
