Bob Barker‘s longtime girlfriend, Nancy Burnet, gave an update on Bob and his health just after he turned 99 years old. The 79-year-old said that he is actually only on one prescription medication and that is for his thyroid.
She added, “That’s it. So, he does not take anything for blood pressure, cholesterol, the umpteen other things that most people take as they grow older. He’s in very good health for his age and his humor is still in good shape. He’s had a very charmed life.”
As for his birthday celebrations, Nancy said that he had a “very simple and quiet” celebration at home. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, as Bob has had a string of injuries in the past few years. He was hospitalized for severe back pain in 2018 but seems to be recovering quite well.
Nancy explained, “His doctors are quite surprised, anytime that they have seen him, how healthy he looks for his age, and they’re surprised that he takes nothing else.” She said that Bob likes to spend his days playing board games, card games, or watching sports and movies.
She said that he is also “very much interested in history” and added, “He doesn’t read much anymore. But when he did, he read mostly about history, American history, wars, World War II. He’s very knowledgeable about it.” The one thing she said he doesn’t really watch anymore: The Price is Right. Nancy concluded, “Which is as it should be. It’s Drew Carey’s show now, and he should do it his way. But it’s like anything after you’re away from it for a while.”
