72-year-old Jay Leno is currently recovering after suffering severe burns to his face. Jay was working on one of his cars when a gasoline fire broke out that led to his burns. He spent some time in the hospital and had surgery to reduce the damage left behind.
Now, Jay is getting back to his normal life after being treated at the Grossman Burn Center. Jay was recently seen outside of The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach and joked with reporters, “I never thought of myself as a roast comic. We have two shows tonight: regular and extra crispy.”
Jay added that he has “a brand new face.” He has been in relatively good spirits since the accident, even downplaying the seriousness of his injuries. Now that he’s getting back to doing the work he loves, he said that he will always joke about himself.
He added, “You have to joke about it. There’s nothing worse than whiny celebrities. If you joke about it, people laugh along with you.” It doesn’t sound like the accident made him any more afraid to work on his cars either.
Jay explained, “But really, it was an accident, that’s all. Anybody who works with their hands on a regular basis is going to have an accident at some point. If you play football, you get a concussion or a broken leg. Anything you do, there’s a risk factor.” Sounds like he has a good attitude about everything and we hope he continues to heal!
