New Burt Reynolds Sculpture At His Grave Site Honors ‘Smokey And The Bandit’

A new Burt Reynolds sculpture has been placed at his grave site, and it’s an incredible tribute to Smokey and the Bandit. Fans were shocked and saddened by the news of Reynolds’ death in August 2018. It wasn’t until this year that his cremated remains made their way to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The event of the unveiling of the sculpture included a screening of some of the actor’s best work and tickets were given away for free to fans with reservations.

The sculpture is a life-size bronze bust of Burt Reynolds with his well-recognized ‘stache and cowboy hat, an ode to Smokey and the Bandit for sure. Ex-wife Loni Anderson also made an appearance at the event and even helped along with the ceremony.

The grave site plot and sculpture sit beside a palm tree and water with a plaque displaying his name. One of the attendees shared some shots from the event, saying, “Got to see the new doc “I Am Burt Reynolds” and his new monument @hwdforever tonight. Loni Anderson was also there to unveil the sculpture and intro the film. A fitting tribute to a person who really was the last movie star. #burtreynolds #iamburtreynolds”

A stunning tribute for an even more stunning actor. Reynolds was gearing up to rehearse for a project he was working on when he, unfortunately, succumbed to a heart attack at age 82. This sculpture absolutely provokes so much nostalgia for Reynolds fans.
