Matthew McConaughey is an actor but is also known for his love of the state of Texas. A rumor started that said that Matthew was going to run for the governor of Texas. He was asked during a recent interview and he laughed it off but didn’t completely shut down the conversation.
Matthew said, “I have no plans to do that right now. Right now, no. I don’t get politics. Politics seems to be a broken business. Politics needs to redefine its purpose. And so, as I move forward in life, yes, am I gonna consider leadership roles where I can be most useful? I’d love to. I’m doing that regardless.”
As of now, he has been volunteering in the state of Texas instead of participating in politics. He has been working with a bourbon company Wild Turkey to do some charity work. For several years, he helps donate turkeys to families before Thanksgiving.

Matthew and his wife have also tried to help families during the coronavirus pandemic. They donated over 110,000 masks to local hospitals in Texas. For now, it seems he is trying to stay with charity work and other leadership tasks.
In a more recent podcast interview, Matthew seemed more interested. “It’s a true consideration. I’m looking into now, what is my leadership role?” he said. “Because I do think I have some things to teach and share, and what is my role? What’s my category in my next chapter of life that I’m going into?” He also admitted it would be up to the people if they want him to become governor.
Could you see Matthew running for governor? He could win, considering another actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger was once the governor of California!
