One 93-year-old man has never been to the beach, despite living in Florida! Howard Fisher has been living in Florida for 20 years and, whether you believe it or not, he’s never been to the beach. He recently had the opportunity to experience the beach for the first time and he loved every minute of it!
He was able to take a trip to Anna Maria Island with his daughter, Sandra. She tells FOX13 exactly why her father hadn’t been to the beach prior to this moment. She also recalls the moment when he was able to finally experience it! Judging by the photos below, he absolutely loved it.
“I guess he never went to the beach because he wasn’t motivated at the time!” Sandra tells the news outlets. “By the time he decided to go, he is now 93 – and needed my help.” She says that her father told her, “Sandra isn’t it ironic? I have lived here for 20 years and never once went to the ocean. Now, I think I might like to, but I can’t.”
Of course, his daughter responds, “Yes, you can, Dad. I will make sure of it.” Sandra lives in Alabama, but surprised her dad for his birthday and made his beach wish come true! They borrow a beach wheelchair from the Anna Maria Island Beach Café.
In the photos, you can tell that Howard is living the dream! He is all smiles as he floats on his back in the blue-green waters of the Gulf. “Look, I float just like a cork,” he says while floating in the water. “Isn’t this great? Look at that sky and those clouds.”
We’re so happy Howard was able to finally experience the beach and warm waters, especially at his age!
