Classic DIY Christmas Crafts

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without some DIY crafts to decorate! Take a look at some of these classic DIY decorations to add some fun to your next Christmas!

Now-a-days were lucky to have websites like Pinterest that provide us curious crafters with step by step tutorials on how to skillfully put together an endless array of beautiful things fit for any occasion. When I was a child we had only two sources for our traditional family holiday projects: Craft books and Mom.  I spent countless hours pulling thread through stale popcorn and cranberries with my sisters. I carefully selected bits of fabric to make quilted stockings to hang up. Wreaths purchased from the crafts’ store were decorated with pearls, metallic baubles, and little Christmas-y figurines. These we would proudly display on the front door each holiday season. We tied up bows made from scraps of velvet.

But despite these and many other lovely traditions, my favorites were always the snowflakes and angels we cut out from paper. These were so simple, clean white shapes that were each unique and beautiful in my eyes. I recently found a number of the ones we’d saved tucked away in a scrapbook. Though they were yellowing and stiff, there they were… carefully cut out to look at least a little different from the last. I have every intention to feature them on my tree this Christmas.   What were some of your favorite homemade holiday decorations?
