Will Ferrell cannot hide his love for his kids, especially during interviews. It is no surprise that the boys resemble their comedian father. Married to Swedish actress Viveca Paulin since 2000, Ferrell is the proud father of three sons: Magnus, 20, Mattias, 18, and Axel, 15.
Together, Will Ferrell and Paulin have built a family full of humor, chaos, and beautiful moments that he proudly shares with fans whenever he gets the chance. Often, he recounts memorable times with one or all of his kids, and sometimes he opens up about the stress of raising all male children.

Will Ferrell and Viveca Paulin gave birth to their first son, Magnus, on March 7, 2004, and he typically tells the story behind Magnus’s name, noting that it is because of his wife’s Swedish roots. While some have teased him about naming his son “the great one,” Ferrell assures it was not a decision the couple made by ego. It is no doubt that Magnus has clearly inherited his father’s comedic genes. In an interview, Will Ferrell recalls a hilarious moment when Magnus wore another kid’s glasses for his yearbook photo, adopting a serious expression despite not needing glasses.
Born on December 30, 2006, Mattias is the middle child of the Ferrell family. Ferrell once shared that Mattias name means “one who eats fire.” Like his brothers, Mattias has a sharp sense of humor and is not afraid to critique his dad. Mattias has also taken a keen interest in sports, with soccer being a particular passion.
Will Ferrell’s experience parenting male children
The youngest of Will Ferrell’s children, Axel, was born on January 23, 2010. Will Ferrell often jokingly compares parenting them to “running a prison” due to the noise and chaos of raising three boys. However, the laughter outweighs the challenges in their household.
One family tradition that Axel and his brothers love is choosing their father’s Halloween costume every year. From a poop emoji to other outrageous outfits, Ferrell never shies away from this, even if it means embarrassing himself.
