Cher‘s new memoir titled Cher: The Memoir, Part One contains a recollection of how she met Warren Beatty and an unforgettable moment they shared shortly after. They dated briefly, despite Cher being in her mid-teens and Warren, in his mid-twenties.
Warren Beatty was just fresh out of his escapades with actress Natalie Wood, whom he worked with while filming 1961’s Splendor in the Grass. On their first night together, Cher had to put on Natalie’s bathing suit as she did not plan to end up in a pool that day.
Cher swam with Warren Beatty until 4am … and wore Natalie Wood’s swimsuit
It all started when Cher was driving on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles when Warren nearly hit her car. She got down to confront him in the parking lot of Schwab’s pharmacy, only to realize the silly driver was Warren. Cher admitted in her book that his charming appearance blew her away once he got out of his vehicle.
He calmly asked Cher for her name and offered to get her something to eat, to which she obliged despite being concerned about her curfew. They arrived at his house in Beverly Hills, where he served her cheese and crackers.
Things got heated between Cher and Warren Beatty
Moments after Cher arrived at Warren’s home, they shared an unexpected but mutual kiss and ended up in Warren’s pool with Cher in his ex-girlfriend’s swimsuit. Cher got in trouble with her parents when she arrived home at 4 am; however, she was still ecstatic about the random date.
Interestingly, Cher turned down his dinner offer the next morning because of her parents, but Warren, in his cocky fashion, asked to speak with her mother, who was a big fan of his. They went on two more dates until Cher met her first husband, Sonny Bono, shortly after.
