Actress Bette Midler has sent her fans into a frenzy with her reaction to Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections as she threatened to harm herself. The 78-year-old shared a snap of drain cleaning liquid labeled “Trump wins” and another bottle of wine having “Kamala wins” before deactivating her X account.
Her post stayed up for hours, receiving thousands of likes and comments ranging from concern to jest. Some were unmoved by her tantrum, saying she would be back on social media after going without attention for a while. “She can run, but she can’t hide,” a user said.

Following the suicidal post was another referring to Trump’s infamous simulation of oral sex using a mic at one of his rallies. “I saw Trump simulating a b— j– on his microphone yesterday! UGH! Looks like somebody’s getting ready to try to win the popular vote…in prison!” she wrote.
Midler’s followers fear for her mental health ahead of the new administration as they look forward to a sign that she is okay. “Wait. Has anyone done a wellness check on her yet today???” someone asked, while others were curious to know if she would leave America soon.
Midler reacted to Kamala Harris’ defeat with yet another post, this time inspired by H. L. Mencken. “As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people,” she wrote. “We move toward a lofty ideal.”
The post continued, stating that “on some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” Other Hollywood celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, have also expressed their disappointment online, receiving backlash or comfort from fellow citizens.
