Although Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett never tied the knot, the lovers shared an enduring relationship, and when Farrah died of cancer in 2009, Ryan was by her side as she took her last breath. Earlier this month, O’Neal was pronounced dead, and his cause of death was said to be congestive heart failure.
Following Farrah’s death years back, O’Neal, who claimed he didn’t get to spend enough time with her, was buried last weekend at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles beside his longtime lover.
The lovers had a unique relationship
The late power couple had a challenging relationship, which was marred by O’Neal’s infidelity and his volatile behavior. Despite the troubles, the lovers were there for each other during their dark period—Farrah took care of O’Neal during his leukemia struggles, and he was there for her during her cancer battle.

“I would have been much kinder, more understanding, more mature. I’d lose some of the savagery. I don’t know how she got cancer; maybe some of it was me,” O’Neal told People magazine about his regrets. “There was never a day I didn’t love her.”
O’Neal didn’t get a chance to fulfill Farrah’s last wish
O’Neal and Farrah had a son, Redmond, during their love affair, and the late actor promised Farrah that he would take care of their son. During his last days, he tried reaching out to his now-troubled offspring, but he didn’t get to meet him. “Ryan has made a lot of mistakes in his life, but his greatest sorrow is not being able to honor his vow to Farrah,” an insider shared.
Redmond is currently in incarceration and charged with six counts of offense related to alleged armed robbery in addition to drug possession at the time of the arrest.
