When your dad is known for singing “School’s Out” in full goth makeup, growing up might sound like a never-ending rock concert. But for Alice Cooper’s three children: Calico, Dash, and Sonora, life was surprisingly down-to-earth. They had chores, earned pocket money, and learned to make their own way in the world.
Still, the stage was never too far away. All three kids joined their dad at different points in his shows. From dancing in creepy clown costumes to starting their own bands or acting in rock musicals, they found their paths in entertainment.
Calico Cooper and Dash Cooper are into performing arts
Born in May 1981, Calico is Alice and Sheryl Cooper’s first child. Calico’s love for dancing led her to perform nationally in jazz and acrobatics during high school. At 16, she joined her dad’s tour as a clown, which was her first time on stage in front of a crowd. She later became a full-time part of his touring cast and helped direct some of his shows. After 11 years of touring, she switched gears. She took acting classes, worked odd jobs in L.A., and eventually landed roles in shows like 7th Heaven, Hawaii Five-O, and Infectious. In 2012, she joined the rock band Beastö Blancö, and their fifth album, Kinetica, came out in 2024 with music videos shot by her husband, Jed Williams, whom she married in 2015.
Dash, born in June 1985, is the Coopers’ only son. Music was part of his life from the start, but he didn’t just copy his dad. “Every day was a different kind of music,” Dash said. By middle school, he had developed his own sound and style. He formed his band, CO-OP, and worked with major acts like KISS and Korn. In 2009, his band backed up Alice at a college graduation ceremony, a proud moment for both father and son. CO-OP went on to release their first album in 2018 and continued performing across the country.
Sonora Cooper found her path in stage makeup
The youngest of the three, Sonora, was born in December 1992. Though shy at first, she ended up touring with her dad as a teenager and even played multiple characters in his live shows. It was during this time that she discovered a love for makeup and design.
Sonora worked hard to master stage makeup, often learning on the go. After a global tour, she returned to public school and met her future husband, Diego. While she stayed out of the spotlight more than her siblings, she found her place behind the scenes.
