Tragedy struck in the city of Arizona on Monday afternoon when an airplane belonging to Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil skidded off the Scottsdale Airport runway to hit another one after experiencing a landing gear failure. The sad incident led to the death of the pilot, while three others who were onboard, including Rain Andreani, Neil’s girlfriend, and her friend Ashley, survived with various degrees of injuries.
Following the tragic event, the daughter of the deceased pilot shared her thoughts about the event and the role she believed her father would have played in saving the lives of the passengers and co-pilot.

In an interview with the Arizona Republic, the late pilot’s daughter, Jana Schertzer, shared the story of her 78-year-old father, Marine veteran Joie Vitosky, who lost his life during the plane crash. She revealed that her dad had been a pilot for almost six decades, starting his career flying helicopters with the Marine Corps before making the transition to jets. She maintained that her father was very healthy with no underlying illness whatsoever, and he had a perfect vision.
Schertzer also commended her late father’s selfless actions in the critical moments leading up to the crash. The daughter noted that her dad was instrumental in ensuring the survival of the other passengers. She firmly believed that her late dad’s composure and decisive handling of the situation during those final moments were the key reasons why the others on board managed to survive the tragic incident.
